Problem Discovery

More than 30% of new customers choose the wrong heat tariff online. Customers either select the wrong heating type (heat pump/night storage) or the wrong meter type (single-rate/two-rate). These contracts are canceled and usually re-created via the telephone service hotline, which leads to increased costs and effort in the service center. The current solution seems inadequate in supporting/advising customers to make the right selection.

Goals

  • Support customers in selecting the right heat-electricity product

  • Minimize contract cancellations

  • Increase successful contract completion via the website

  • Improve consultation process to increase conversion rate

  • Provide good digital consultation to users for easy product selectio

Testing

We conducted user testing to ensure that the new design would be effective in meeting the needs of our users. The testing was structured around three user groups with different use cases, and it was carried out both in-person and remotely. We began by asking interview questions before moving on to the prototypes. Throughout the testing process, we observed the users and evaluated the usability, process, and design of the application. We used a grading system to summarize the results and provided an explanation of the evaluation, concluding with comments and the System Usability Scale (SUS). With the output and results from the testing, we were able to identify optimization proposals and integrate them into the final design of the web application. Overall, the user testing process helped us to ensure that the new design was effective and user-friendly, resulting in an optimized application that meets the needs of our customers.
